Vera Gäde-Butzlaff

CEO Berliner Stadtreinigung

Vera Gäde-Butzlaff

"It has been a long term concern for us to keep the city of Berlin clean and therefore contribute to its attractiveness for the citizens, our clients and guests. This includes staying "clean" ourselves. When others have not even thought of things like climate protection, we had already been active in this field showing that economical and efficient performance does not have to be a contradiction to environmental protection at all. To further protect our climate, we closely work together with the Berliner Energieagentur on the joint initiative of "Initiative mehrwert Berlin", on the "Entwicklungsplattform Berlin Energie" and on monitoring our eager agreement on climate protection."

Jörg Simon

CEO Berliner Wasserbetriebe

Jörg Simon

"To the Berliner Wasserbetriebe, ecological aspects are as important as economic and social issues. This especially refers to the sustainable use of our water resources. Moreover, we are anxious to contribute to the environmental protection by taking a stand for more energy efficiency and an increasing amount of energy supply through renewable energy resources. Therefore, we are glad to join the network "NetzwerkE", launched by the Berliner Energieagentur. Using the networks platform as a place of knowledge transfer we, together with other partners of the NetzwerkE, elaborate on innovative solutions for energy-efficient utilization of sewage."

Konrad Kandziora

Chairman ITDZ Berlin

Konrad Kandziora

"Climate protection is a serious issue for the ITDZ. Therefore, we gladly accept the responsibility towards our environment. Our most important objective is to reduce the use of natural resources as well as costs. This is why we focus on energy efficiency more than ever, for example in our colocation center. Especially in the field of climate-friendly administrative proceedings, information technology has decisive potential to contribute to carbon neutral procedures. The Berliner Energieagentur prepared and supported the implementation of a climate protection agreement with the Federal State of Berlin for us. We are eager to save another 27 percent of our current energy consumption."

Hendrik Jellema

Chairman of GEWOBAG

"With the installation of the CHP unit at Rathausstraße we partially fullfil our obligations in reference to the Berlin agreement on climate protection. Together with other housing corporations, we already achieved tremendous reductions in CO2 emissions."

Hartmut Minde

Managing director of ISM Berlin, energy consultant, KfW-efficiency consultant

Hartmut Minde

"Our collaboration is coming to fruition: The Berliner Energieagentur has implemented the concepts that we have provided them during the last months. More and more CHPs generate power and heat for estates all over the city of Berlin - for example in our "energy saving building" at Puchanstraße in the district of Köpenick. This service is beneficial for tenants and owner occupation: Incidental expenses decrease while one simultaneously cares for the environment. Decentralizing combined heat and power in residential buildings, business units and industrial facilities is not only economically meaningful but also important in an ecological sense. With this already in mind, we are planning the buildings for our clients on a climate and environmentally friendly basis."

Ulf Heitmann

Member of the executive board of the builing cooperative "Bremer Höhe" e.G.

Ulf Heitmann

"Right after our foundation in 2000, we were confronted with the question of which was the best remedial design to choose in terms of energy and heat provision. We were eager to cut down emissions of our approx. 500 apartments as far as possible, as well as significantly reducing our costs for power and heating. After thoroughly considering various concepts, we decided on an operator model on the one hand and on combined heat and power facilities on the other hand. With the Berliner Energieagentur, we found a reliable and highly competent partner guiding us to eventually achieve both of our goals."

Rudolf Orlob

Chairman of Charlottenburger Baugenossenschaft eG

Rudolf Orlob

We cannot implement modernizations without consequences for the rents in our buildings. On behalf of the mutual agreement with the residents, who play an essential part in the politics of housing associations, and in cooperation with the Berliner Energieagentur we finally accomplished this in Schwendyweg, Spandau. We tailored the buildings wall insulation to a CHP unit which is located in our modern central heating plant."

Norbert Reinelt

Chief executive of the advory board of GeWoSüd

Norbert Reinelt

"Collaborating with the Berliner Energieagentur plays a crucial role in modernizing our current housing stock in terms of environmental-friendliness and affordability. We did not only realize these visions at the "Lindenhof" location, in the district of Schöneberg, but also in Weißensee."

Tobias Dreißigacker

Managing director of Bethel Hospital Berlin

 Stephan Wegener

"As an intensive care hospital consisting of 251 beds, the Bethel Hospital Berlin intends to modify its building in terms of energy efficiency that will meet the criteria of the BUND label for quality "energy saving hospital". In order to meet these goals, the Berliner Energieagentur implemented an "energy savings guarantee agreement" with Hochtief Energy Management and installed a CHP in our building."

Klaus Wowereit

Mayor of Berlin

V.l.n.r.: David Miller, Bürgermeister Toronto, Klaus Wowereit, Michael Geißler

"In the 1990s Berlin has already tried to square the circle by launching an energy savings partnership to refurbish public buildings in terms of energy efficiency without spending federal funds and saving money instead - this was and still is a groundbreaking model.
We were already able to cut the energy costs of the city hall in half. We have additionally started to be energy providers since 2010. We possess photovoltaic modules providing power to households in Berlin."
