European Energy Service Initiative (EESI)

Partner:
European Commission
Period:
2009 - 2012

The EU's European Energy Service Initiative (EESI) promotes the further development and implementation of innovative projects in the field of energy service contracting (ESC) and contributes to establishing efficient energy service markets in Europe. Therefore, a considerable contribution to the further development and implementation of standardized ESC models is made. ESC can be emphasized as a primary tool for the implementation of the energy service guidelines through the National Energy Efficiency Action Plans (NEEAP) and for the development of the European energy service market.
At the local and regional levels, the EESI supports the specific development and consultations by national online advice centers, ongoing training for local authorities, enterprises and disseminators and the provision of advice for the implementation and further development of ESC in concrete pilot projects. The EU project is represented at national and international trade fairs. The highlight is the annual awarding of the European Energy Service Award to enterprises and service providers that assume a pioneer role in the process of improving energy efficiency in Europe.
