The Lord Mayor of Montevideo, Daniel Martínez, visited Berlin and was welcomed by Berlin’s Governing Mayor Michael Müller in the Rotes Rathaus, the town hall of Berlin. During his visit Martinez was also presented the photovoltaic system on the town hall’s roof. Michael Geissler, CEO of the Berliner Energieagentur, explained its technical features and a possible transfer of know-how in energy efficiency between the two cities.

Michael Geissler, Chief Executive Officer of the Berliner Energieagentur, was re-elected as chairman of the eaD for two more years. He has been in office for the German association since 2001. The treasurer Udo Sahling (Climate Protection Agency Hanover) also stays in office for two more years. Wiebke Fiebig, from the municipal energy department in Frankfurt/Main, was elected vice-chairwoman.

The metropolises of Berlin and Mexico City are fostering their cooperation in climate protection. Michael Geissler, Chief Executive Officer of the Berliner Energieagentur (BEA), and Tanya Müller Garcia, environment minister of the capital region of Mexico City, have signed a memorandum of understanding, stating their interest to intensify their exchange of knowledge and experience.

As part of the arranged “energy partnership” between both metropolises, the cities of Berlin and Buenos Aires want to implement a pilot project for energy efficiency in hospitals. Michael Geißler, CEO of the Berliner Energieagentur, and Carlos Villalonga, Chairman of the environment agency APrA, came to that agreement. At yesterday’s roundtable for politics and economy at the town hall of Argentina’s capital the Governing Mayor of Berlin Michael Müller also participated.
